Helen O'Neal

Helen F. O'Neal age 74 of Calhoun, passed away Monday, March 9, 2009 in Gordon Hospital.

Helen was born in Benton, TN on September 4, 1934, daughter of the late Paul and Gerthel Watkins Fulbright. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and retired from Georgia Tufters.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, SFC Joseph V. Martin and John E. O'Neal; two brothers, Milford and Gerald Fulbright; a stepson, John O'Neal, and a stepdaughter, Sherrie Thompson.

Survivors include a son; Tom Martin of Gilbert, SC; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Charles McNeil of Calhoun, and Karla and Greg Edwards of Irmo, SC; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and Earl Moorehouse, and Janice and Sam Rymer all of Benton, TN; a brother-in-law, Dwight Martin and his wife Ruth; and three sisters-in-law, Faye Crabtree and her husband Pete, Ann Waldrop and her husband Frank and Joyce McLemore and her husband Carl; a stepson, Jeff O'Neal of Calhoun; three stepdaughters, Patricia Mulkey, Anita Morrison, and Barbara O'Neal, all of Calhoun. Twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen F. O'Neal will be conducted Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 11:00AM from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Barry Brock officiating. Burial will follow in the Mars Hill Cemetery in Etowah, TN. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00pm until 9:0pm.
