Obituary
Helen Thomas Tate, 90, of Calhoun, died Sunday, July 12, 2020, at her residence.
Mrs. Tate was born in Gordon County, GA on December 21, 1929; daughter of the late, R.D. Thomas Sr. and Quillie Parsons Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lamar Tate; sisters and brothers-in-law; Mary Jo Erwin (Stanton), Earlene Allen (Rueben), Jackie White (Junior), Janelle Phillips (D.F.) and Dixie Thomas, Brothers and Sister-in-law; Hazel Thomas (Gladys), Troy Thomas, Walter Lee Thomas, and Junior Thomas.
Helen was a well-known resident of Gordon County and cherished her family and friends. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Town and Casual and Teagues and was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister-in-law; Catherine Thomas and several nieces and nephews. Her sitters to whom the family wants to give a special thanks are Sue Ledford, Sandra Rogers, Beatrice Edwards, Tracy Thatcher, and Lori Blalock.
A service to celebrate Helens life will be held on Tuesday, July 14th at 3:30 from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Pickren and Phil French officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery with Rev. Alan Miller conducting the graveside service. Pallbearers serving will include; Timmy Erwin, Reuben Allen, Rickey Lake, Danny Erwin, Danny Phillips, and Sam Curtis. Honorary pallbearers include Ray Erwin, Randy Erwin, Tommy White, Randy Reddick, Tommy Reddick, Tony Tomlinson, Johnnie Frix, Billy Thomas, Mike Thomas, and Eddie Thomas.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 14th from 2 until the service.
