Henrietta Payne Smith

Mrs. Henrietta Payne Smith, age 86 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Floyd Medical Center following several months of declining health. She was born in Gordon County on June 1, 1925, daughter of the late Lee and Fannie Stewart Payne. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles Eugene Smith in 1999; three brothers, Dennis Payne, Guy Payne, and Floyd Payne; and two sisters, Daisy Perry and Clara Fisher.

Mrs. Smith loved her children and grandchildren and spending time with them. She loved gardening and watching things grow, and crocheting. She loved to go to church, and was a member of Heritage Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Carol Smith, and Steve and Lorraine Smith; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Ralph Rickett, and Sheilah and Bobby Shaw, all of Calhoun; and a special granddaughter, Kimberly Shaw Hollingsworth. Seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Henrietta Payne Smith will be held Friday, March 9th at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Brent Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Michael Smith, Kevin Rickett, Jared Goswick, Joseph Rickett, Sam Rickett, and Bill Payne.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
