Mr. Henry Jack Hammonds of Calhoun, GA, passed away July 17, 2014 peacefully at home after 2 years of declining health.
He was born September 4, 1946 in Floyd County, son of the late John Henry and Lola Mae Dowdy Hammonds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Henry Gregg Hammonds.
Mr. Hammonds retired from Mannington Carpet on November 11, 2011, where he worked for 37 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a member of First Christian Church of Adairsville, where he enjoyed being a member for over 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Lancaster Hammonds, to whom he was married for 44 years; his daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Dean Fortenberry; two grandchildren, Garrett Hammonds and Emily Fortenberry; a special sister-in-law, Sandra Haygood; and two brothers, Ronnie Hammonds and his wife Linda, and Wayne Hammonds and his wife Cathy. Other survivors are Laura Sutton, and Tom and Carol Clark, and a host of other relatives.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Henry Jack Hammonds will be held Sunday, July 20th at 2:00 PM from the First Christian Church of Adairsville, with Danny Pelfrey officiating. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park..
The Hammonds family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday, July 18th and Saturday, July 19th from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
