Mr. Herman Douglas Moore, age 79 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at his residence, following several years of declining health. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on July 4, 1929, son of the late James Euell Moore and Rena Wilson Moore. During his lifetime, Mr. Moore had been a meat cutter, and was retired from Piggly-Wiggly. He was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Air Force, and was a member of the Nellie Peters United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings; Arthur (Ott) Moore, Everett Moore, Grover Moore, and Dorthey Holland.
Survivors include a son, Douglas J. Moore of Calhoun; a daughter, Teresa D. Mulkey of Calhoun; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl Lee and Stella Moore of Monroe, GA; and a sister, Betty Duggan of Graysville, Tennessee. Two grandsons, Anthony D. Moore and his wife Debbie, and PFC Daniel C. Mulkey; and three great-grandchildren, Gage and Haley Jones, and Khiley Tristan Moore, all of Calhoun, also survive.
At Mr. Moore's request, his body was cremated, and a memorial service will be conducted at 2:00pm Saturday, March 7 from the Nellie Peters United Methodist Church.
