Herman Dwayne Shaffer

Mr. Herman Dwayne Shaffer, age 75 of Resaca, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011 in Gordon Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Meigs County, TN on July 3, 1936, son of the late James Oliver and Jessie Amy Bolles Shaffer.

Mr. Shaffer was employed by Mayfield Dairy and Calfee Dairy for 52 years, and had been a resident of Gordon County since 2002. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Jean Bunch, a sister, Julie Shaffer, and a brother, Oliver Gene Shaffer.

Survivors include two sons, Herman Shaffer and his wife Theresa of Calhoun, and Ollie Shaffer of Dalton; three sisters, Martha Bryant and her husband Winfred of Murray, GA, Betty Jo Miller and her husband Charles of Cleveland, TN, and Myrtle Beavers and her husband Jesse, Jr. of Cleveland, TN; a brother, Oliver Gene Shaffer of Meigs County, TN; four grandchildren, Joshua, Latosha, Herman and Amber Shaffer; and great-grandchildren, Camryn Shaffer, Gage Ledford and Jaclyn Dixon. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Herman Shaffer will be held Sunday, July 31st at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Grady Simpson and Joshua Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow in Moores Chapel Cemetery near Cleveland, TN. Pallbearers serving include Johnny Graham, Jerry Beavers, Bob Beavers, George Reuter and Eli Hernandez.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home after 2:00 PM Friday.
