Mr. Herman (Bit) Petty, age 74 of Calhoun, passed away February 14, 2008 at his residence, following several years of declining health. He was born in Floyd County on July 20, 1933, son of the late Martin and Leitha Houston Petty. Mr. Petty had been a resident of Gordon County for 27 years, and was a veteran, retiring from the US Air Force in 1972.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bennie Fauscett Petty; a son, Zackary Petty of Calhoun; three daughters, Terry Petty of Calhoun, Karen Kile and her husband Joe, and Connie Greek and her husband Brad, both of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dolly Petty of Plainville; two sisters and brothers-in-law; Sue and Bill Edwards, and Hazel and Lee Gamble; a brother-in-law, Larry Fauscett and a sister-in-law, Diana Randolf, all of Dalton. Seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Herman Petty will be conducted Saturday, February 16 at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Reese Fauscett officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
