Herman Timms

December 31, 1932 — April 28, 2012

Rev. Herman Timms, age 79 of Ranger, GA went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 28, 2012 at his residence. He was born on December 31, 1932, son of the late John Arthur and Beulah Shepherd Timms, and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lora Lea Gilbert Timms; a brother, Herbert Timms; and a sister-in-law, Thelma Timms.

Brother Timms was a retired Church of God minister. He preached his first sermon in 1962 at College Street Church of God, and served as pastor of five other churches including Timms Chapel Church of God from 1963-1964; Fairview Church of God from 1964-1970; Crane Eater Church of God from 1970-1982; Trenton Church of God from 1982-1985; and East Trion Church of God from 1985-1989.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Oliver Timms of the residence; two sons, Ronnie Timms of Calhoun, and Joel Timms and his wife Cindy of Pulaski, TN; three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Randy Bunch of Acworth, Vickey and David Blalock of Ranger, and Stephanie and Richie Lee of Calhoun; three brothers, Aaron Timms and his wife Carlotta of Calhoun, David Timms and his wife Linda of Resaca, and J.W. Timms of Rock Springs; and five sisters, Hazel Burnette and her husband Eddie of Fayetteville, GA, Margie Dutton and her husband Kenneth, Mary Jones and her husband Moody, Lucille Hall, and Betty Burton and her husband Charlie, all of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Kyra Burch and her husband Paul, Matthew Sergent and his wife Crystal, Patrick Timms, David Timms, and Deanna Lee; and great-grandchildren, Clayton Burch, Ayden Sergent, Michayla Burch, and Connor Sergent.

Services to celebrate the life of Rev. Herman Timms will be held Tuesday, May 1st at 3:00pm from the College Street Church of God, with Rev. Donald Lee, Rev. Randy Bunch, and Rev. J.W. Timms officiating. Bro. Timms' body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers include Patrick Timms, David Timms, Matthew Sergent, Paul Burch, Phillip Oliver, and Eddie Pack. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Dykes and Alan Jones.

The Timms family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday after 5:00pm.
