Mr. Howard Dayton Patterson, age 77 of Adairsville, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at his son's residence. He was born in Gordon County on June 12, 1933, son of the late John F. and Lannie Ardell Harris Patterson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Faye Dodd.
Mr. Patterson was a veteran, serving his country in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Frances Ellen Duncan Patterson; two sons, Larry Patterson and his wife Sheenia of Adairsville, and Randall Patterson of Douglasville, GA; a daughter, Tina Michelle Kuriger and her husband Heath of Jasper, GA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Joan Patterson, and Ray and Eula Patterson, all of Calhoun; three sisters, Catherine Moore of Panama City, FL, Jean Bennett of Calhoun, and Maxine Roberts and her husband J.W. of Dalton; and the mother of his children, Sylvia Johnson. Also surviving are grandchildren, Brandon and Haley Patterson, Crystal Patterson, Chas Cochran, LaShae Smith, Blake Shiver, Jenna Shiver, and Austin Kuriger; and great-grandchildren, Madyson, Makensey, and Kelson Patterson, Jocelynn and Haley Smith, Camron and Rayghen Cochran, and Mason and Katie Patterson.
Funeral services for Mr. Howard Dayton Patterson will be held Thursday at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Andrew Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Chas Cochran, Lamar Roberts, Randy Bennett, Ricky Bennett, Rocky Bennett, George Moore, and Mitchell Dodd. Brandon Patterson and David Patterson will served as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
