Hubert Henry Cooper

Mr. Hubert Henry Cooper, age 81 of Fairmount, GA passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Floyd Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Floyd County, GA on July 28, 1932, son of the late Earnest and Gidia Culberson Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Cooper in 1996; an infant daughter, Patti Lee Cooper; a sister-in-law, Judy Evans; and a grandson, Joey Cooper.

Mr. Cooper was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a veteran, serving his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict in the 101st Airborne Division. He retired from Georgia Textile, and was a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Patsy Avery Cooper; a son and daughter-in-law, Geary and Rhonda Cooper; a daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Don Travis, all of Calhoun; and two sisters, Dorothy Reed of Rossville, and Betty Woodring of Adairsville. Also surviving are grandchildren, Avery Travis Turnipseed (Dustin), Will Travis, Zeke Cooper, Zane Cooper, US Army Specialist Jonathon Cooper (Ashley), Leah Cooper, and Ethan Eden; great-grandchildren Aron, Aeva, and Noah Cooper; and special caregiver, Tabitha Redden.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Hubert Henry Cooper will be held Wednesday, July 16th at 11:00 AM from the Calhoun First Baptist Church, with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Mr. Coopers body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until the service hour. Interment will follow in Gaines Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers serving will include US Army Specialist Jonathon Cooper, Zeke Cooper, Zane Cooper, Will Travis, Dustin Turnipseed, and Tommy Hall.

The Cooper family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
