Mrs. I.L. Pack, age 96, a long time resident of the Ranger-Oakman Community, died Friday, November 30, 2012.

Mrs. Pack was born in Gordon County on July 5, 1916, daughter of the late Willie Aaron and Tennie Charles Deal, and was one of nine children. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Odetta Cook and Virginia Hill; a brother, Jimmy Deal; a son-in-law, Richard R. Jackson; and a grandson-in-law, Tim Colbaugh.

Her family was poultry farmers in the early years until her and her husband, Ben Pack, moved and built their new home near Ranger. They went to work for Lacey Mills in Fairmount where she became their first retiree. For many years she was the oldest living member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she became a member at the age of 14.

Mrs. Pack is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Doris Jackson of Dalton; a son, Gerald Pack and his wife Linda of Rocky Face, GA; three grandchildren, Joyce Colbaugh, Sonya Pack, and Patrick Rhodes and his wife Ashley; three great- grandchildren, Zach Colbaugh, Drew Pack and Jack Rhodes; two sisters, Mabel Edgeman and Louise Shuler, both of Dalton; three brothers, Bill Deal and his wife Jettie of Bethlehem, GA, Charles Deal and his wife Bertha of Roopville, GA, and A.W. Deal and his wife Pauline of Newman, GA; and special friends, Ginger McDougle, Ruth Corn, Angela Henson and Faye Lewis.

Funeral services for Mrs. I.L. Pack will be held Sunday, December 2nd at 2:00 PM from Hopewell Baptist Church, with Pastor Tim Cheatham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family of Mrs. I.L. Pack will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Saturday, December 1st between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
