Mrs. Ida Stephens, age 95 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Calhoun Health Care. She was a native of Gordon County, born on April 13, 1915 to the late Luke and Lula Wyatt Dutton. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William S. Stephens; four brothers, Melvin Dutton, J.C. Dutton, Otto Dutton, and Otis Dutton; and three sisters, Edith Downer, Bonnie Payne, and Jewel Wright.
Prior to her retirement at age 82, Mrs. Stephens had been employed by Wellco Carpets and Calhoun Health Care. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Gene Stephens of Hinton; a brother and sister-in-law, Hansel and Sybil Dutton of the Erwin Hill community; and grandchildren, Gary Stephens of Calhoun, and Brian Padgett of Winchester, Virginia. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Ida Stephens will be conducted Monday, August 9th at 2:00pm from Gordon Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Harold Blackstock officiating.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 12:00 noon until time to depart for the graveside service at 2:00pm.
