Obituary

Ike William "Pete" Ray, 86, of Calhoun, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Gordon Health Care, following an extended illness. He was born in Gordon County on May 18, 1931, son of the late Charlie and Octavia Hall Ray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Black Ray on March 10, 2008.
Pete was a Minister, a used car salesman, and textile worker. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Mildred Ballew of Calhoun; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Grady and Barbara Reagan of McDonough, GA; and special friends, Junior Redwine, and Vernon and Martha Talley. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Services to honor the life of Ike William "Pete" Ray will be held Friday, January 26th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Marvin Carr and Rev. Donny Matilla will officiate. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include; Robert Brock, Nathan Sexton, Chris Ray, Harvey Ray and Steve McDougle.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 25th from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that contributions be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
