Ila Brown Moss

Mrs. Ila Elizabeth Brown Moss, age 86 of Calhoun died Monday, February 9, 2015 at her residence following an extended illness.

Ila was born in Resaca, GA on March 22, 1928, daughter of the late Jodie and Maggie Robbins Brown. She was a graduate of Resaca High School and a lifelong resident of Gordon County. Prior to her retirement, she was a Licensed Master Barber with Brown Barber Shop in Calhoun. She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Ila was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl "Buddy" Brown, Otis Brown and J.M. Brown; and four sisters, Velma Chastain, Faye Overton, Emily Whaley and Melba Poston.

Survivors include her husband, James Moss to whom she was married for 56 years; two daughters, Angie Reeves and her husband Bobby of Calhoun, and Sherry Walraven of Calhoun; five grandchildren, Jason Walraven, Heath Walraven, Christy Reeves, Kari Layson and Tonya Turner; and seven great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ila Elizabeth Brown Moss will be conducted Wednesday, February 11th at 11:00 AM from Belmont Baptist Church, with Dr. John Allen and Eddie Brannon officiating. Music will be arranged by Ron Free. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers serving include Reed Davis, Dale Brown, Jerry Edwards, Clifton Smith, Jason Walraven and Heath Walraven. Honorary pallbearers are the Reapers Sunday School Class of Belmont Baptist Church; and present and former caregivers, Pam Franklin, Sharon Walraven, Stephanie Walraven, Christian Walraven, Holly Peek, Angie Stanley, Kim Franklin, Kelly Smith and Patricia Dowdy. They are requested to assemble at 10:45 AM Wednesday at Belmont Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home.
