Inez Hightower Smith

Mrs. Inez Hightower Smith, age 75 of Fairmount, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Floyd Specialty Hospital. She was born in Gordon County on February 4, 1937, daughter of the late Martin Alonzo Hightower and the late Mary Jane Pack Hightower. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Childers, a brother, Jim Tom Hightower, and a great-grandchild, Jocelyn Mathews.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker during her lifetime, and was a member of the Evangelistic Outreach Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Larry Smith of the residence; a daughter, Betty Wilson of Fairmount, and daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Rodger Pitts of Cartersville, Marilyn and Keith Gibson of Fairmount, Regina and Donny Walters of Chattanooga, TN, and Tamara and Chris Edwards of Chattanooga; sons and daughters-in-law, Wendell and Casey Mathews of Ranger, Randall and Donna Mathews of Ranger, and Travis and Catherine Smith of Atlanta; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Lessie and Curtis Coggins of Dalton, and Virginia and Alfred Sutton of Cleveland, GA. Twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Inez Hightower Smith will be held Friday, March 9th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Dennis Childers and Rev. Keith Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will include Bryon Mathews, Dustin Scoggins, Nathan Gay, Jamie Miller, Kyle Hendley, Ray Mathews, Jonathan Mathews, Nick Hancock, and Heath Lee.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
