Ivanell Hammonds

Mrs. Ivanell Hammonds, age 61 of Calhoun, passed away Monday, August 31, 2009. She was born in Gordon County on January 15, 1948, daughter of Dolly Bell Smith Johnson and the late Harold Hugh Johnson. Mrs. Hammonds had been employed in the textile industry, and was a member of the Union Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Jeff Hammonds of Calhoun; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Hughdon Tate of Calhoun; a grandchild, Cody Hammonds; and two nieces, Mitzi Floyd and Kim Pelfrey. Aunts, uncles, cousins, and great nieces also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ivanell Hammonds will be conducted Thursday at 2:00pm from the Union Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Donald Collum and Rev. David Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Grove Cemetery with Rev. Lamar Payne conducting the committal service. Music will be arranged by Mr. Mrs. Dillard Abernathy. Active pallbearers will include Ricky Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Kenny Bailey, Brent Bailey, Michael Johnson, and James Henson. These gentlemen are requested to assemble at the funeral home Thursday at 12:30pm. The deacons of Union Grove Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Mrs. Hammonds will lie in state at the church from 1:30pm until the funeral hour of 2:00pm.

The Hammonds family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday after 4:00pm.
