Jack Bell

Rev. Jack Bell, age 76 of the New Town Community, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at his residence, following one month of illness.

Rev. Bell was born on February 2, 1932 in Gordon County, son of the late Arthur Bell and Mattie Howell Bell. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Star Howell; two brothers, Lewis Bell and Frank Bell, and a son-in-law, Ronnie Grant. Rev. Bell was a veteran of the United States Army, and following his service for his country, he was employed by Lockheed-Georgia Aircraft Corporation. Later he was employed by the Gordon County Sheriff's Office, and presently was serving as Chaplain. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and the Oothcalooga Lodge # 154 F & AM, were he was a Past Master.

Rev. Bell is survived by his wife, Bonnie Harrison Bell to whom he was married for fifty-one years; three daughters, Betty Jo Grant of Dickson, Tennessee, Retha Pass of Calhoun, Sharon Rosser and Richard Knight of Calhoun; and one son, Gary B. Fuller and his wife Barbara of Calhoun. Ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Rev. Jack Bell will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Joel Sutherland and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Harmony Cemetery with Dr. Woody Lee conducting the graveside rites. Singing will be arranged by Ron and Faye Bentley. Active pallbearers serving will include Greg Bennett, Wayne Fuller, Jason Rosser, Ronnie Grant, Keith Grant and Michael Grant. The Senior Adult Sunday School Class of Antioch Baptist Church will serve as honorary escort. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Thursday during the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
