Mr. Jack Dempsey Jones, age 86 of Resaca, GA passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Gordon Hospital following several years of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on May 7, 1928, son of the late Clark William Jones, Sr. and the late Vera Matilda Johnson Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Bryant Jones in 2009; brothers, C.W. Jones in 2005, and Johnson R. Jones in 1930; and sisters, Betty Loner, Judy Jones, and Sara Parris.
Mr. Jones was a veteran, serving his country in the US Air Force. He was owner/operator of Jack Jones Body Shop until retirement. He was a member of Resaca First Baptist Church, and Lodge #724, Resaca F&AM.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Jones and Don Jones and his wife Trudy of Resaca; a daughter, Debbie Jones of Resaca; grandchildren, Stacie Abernathy, Julie Thomas, Kenneth Jones, and Lisa Drulias; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Sarah, and Will Thomas, Riley Abernathy, Tori Jones, and Jeremy Aquirre; and three great-great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Jack Dempsey Jones will be held Thursday, January 8th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Masonic Rites, and with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Jimmy Brown, Johnny Brown, James Phillips, Charles Long, Leon Lewis, and Marvin Acree. Honorary pallbearers are all Masons, Scottish Rite, and Shriners.
The Jones family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, January 7th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children's at Scottish Rite, 1001 Johnson Ferry Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30342.
