Mr. Jack Lee Thornbrough, age 83 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 at Gordon Hospital following several months of declining health.
Jack was a life-long resident of Gordon County, born on July 14, 1929 to the late Wyly and Lela Stewart Thornbrough. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billy Pitts Thornbrough, an infant daughter, Connie Lee Thornbrough, and a grandson, Jackson Thornbrough.
Jack was retired from Lockheed Corporation, and was a member of the American Legion and the Calhoun Elks Club; and a member of the Heritage Baptist Church. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and husband, and an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Keener Thornbrough; a son and daughter-in-law, Tabb and Debbie Thornbrough of Ringgold; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kyle and Eddie Smith of Calhoun, Kris and Darrell Sorrells of Cedartown, and Carol and Chris Cochran of Calhoun; three step-daughters, Pam Seabolt and her husband Resinald, Valerie Allen and her husband Tim, and Vanessa McCormick and her husband Alan, all of Calhoun; 17 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Jack Lee Thornbrough will be held Sunday, September 2nd at 4:00pm from the Heritage Baptist Church, with Rev. Brent Davis and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating.
The family will receive friends at Heritage Baptist Church Sunday from 2:00pm until 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Heritage Baptist Church, 345 Curtis Parkway SE, Calhoun, GA 30701.
