Jack Mashburn

Mr. Jack Mitchell Mashburn, 82, a lifelong resident of the Resaca Community died on April 1, 2016 at Hamilton Medical Center following several years of declining health.

Jack was born in Resaca on September 16, 1933; he was the son of the late James R. and Julia Sexton Mashburn. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leeman Mashburn, James Mashburn, Willis Mashburn, George Mashburn, Jeff Mashburn, and Glenn Mashburn; his sisters, Lucille Timms, Gladys Hawkins, Estelle Knight, and Exie Moore.

Jack was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church since 1963. Prior to his retirement, he was the Director of Maintenance with Reliance Industries.

Jack is survived by his wife of more than sixty-one years, Cathryn Mashburn, of Resaca; his son and daughter-in-law, Mitch and Mendy Mashburn, of Resaca; his daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Jim Patterson, of Charleston, South Carolina; his grandchildren Alex Mashburn, Kelly Mashburn, Casey Mashburn, and Patrick Patterson; his sister, Geneva Seago, of Dalton; his sisters-in-law, Goldie Mashburn, of Resaca, and Catherine Mashburn, of Dalton; special nieces, Sharon Beavers and Shelby Mashburn; many nieces and nephews.

The Mashburn family will receive friends on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 2:00 until 5:30 p.m. at Maple Grove Baptist Church, near Fidelle. The funeral service will follow the visitation on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Maple Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Duane Smith and Rev. Eddie Brannon will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery with Rev. Herman Parker officiating. Pallbearers are Brandon Stanley, Brian Mashburn, Jhan Timms. Jimmy Shaheen, Bobby Poarch, and Tony Westmoreland. Jerry Thompson will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
