Jack Verlin Hamilton

Mr. Jack Verlin Hamilton, 84 of Calhoun, died Friday, December 23, 2016. He was born in Gordon County on September 13, 1932, son of the late Buster Hamilton and Lula Hamilton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, A.M. Hamilton, R.E. Hamilton, F.H. Hamilton, Howard Hamilton, and Bill Hamilton; and his sisters, Margarete Pearson, Beatrice Shope, and Dot Baggett.
Mr. Hamilton was a member of South Calhoun Baptist Church. He was a retired contractor and poultry grower. He also attended Plainville School and he excelled in baseball, basketball, and softball. He later played in the Mill League with the Brighton Baseball Team.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Effie Crump Hamilton; a daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Barry Tow, a granddaughter, Jocelyn Tow; and sisters and brother-in-law, Robert and Bobbie Gwinn, Scott and Barbara Rainwater, Betty Black, Corrine Hamilton, and Lona Crump.
Services for Mr. Hamilton will be held Monday, December 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon, Mike Hamilton, Rev. Barry Tow, and Rev. Gary Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Gordon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers serving are Mike Hamilton, Denny Phillips, John Gubaci, Kevin Crump, Joe Stone, and Talmadge Hollaran. Honorary pallbearers serving are Tolbert Gallman, Clarence Burger, Cotton Gentry, Robert Gwynn, Larry Stamey, Ronnie Sutton, Scott Rainwater, and Dwayne Whitfield.
The Hamilton family will receive friends on Sunday, December 25th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
