Jackie Dale Marker

Mr. Jackie Dale Marker, age 68 of Ranger, GA passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Emory Midtown University Hospital in Atlanta. He was born in Piedmont, AL on August 14, 1944, son of the late Curtis Holloway Marker and the late Vera Elizabeth Edwards Marker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Marker; four brothers, Archie, Jimmy, Teal, and Bill Marker, all of Alabama; and three sisters, Faye Crumbley and Myrtle Lynch of Alabama, and Joyce Marker.

Mr. Marker was a retired carpenter, and attended the Mt. Paran Church of Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Shelba Jean Silvers Marker of the home; a son, Randy Marker of Ranger; two daughters, Tammy Marker Zontek and Melody Marker Lane, both of Ranger; three sisters, Jo Ruth Taylor of Ranger, Mary Brown of Chatsworth, and Glenda Warren of Marietta; grandchildren, Kim, Maegan, Jessica, Matthew, Beverly, Nicholas, Blake, Hannah and Chandler; and great-grandchildren, Bryson, Kaylee, and Peyton. An aunt, Katherine Pearson; special friend, Bobby Woodring; and nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to give special recognition to all the doctors and nurses at Gordon Hospital and Emory Midtown University Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Jackie Dale Marker will be held Monday, October 1st at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Bishop Jerry Stephens and Bro. Dutch Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Brian Sitten, Ashley Silvers, Jon Silvers, Tracy Tatum, Derek Silvers, and Dustin Tomlinson. Honorary pallbearers are Jordan Tatum, Ed Tatum, R.L. Calloway, Roger Davis, Danny Brown, Gordon Calloway, Bryan Blaylock, Buford Blaylock, and Tim Parker.

The Marker family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
