Mrs. Jackie Kalevas, age 73 of Plainville, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Redmond Medical Center following several months of declining health.
Mrs. Kalevas was born on October 11, 1937 in Bartow County, daughter of the late Webb and Pauline Bailey James. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Nick Kalevas on September 4, 2010, and by a brother, Sonny James. During her lifetime she worked for Klopman Mills and later retired from owning and operating a retail store.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Green and Renay Jones, both of Plainville; a son, Nick Kalevas and his wife Sylvia of Plainville; two sisters, Barbara Avery and Annette Parker, both of Calhoun; and a brother, Johnny James of Calhoun. Also surviving are grandchildren, Lisa Beavers, Amanda Dean, and Wesley Jones; and four great grandchildren, Dustin Mahan, Breanna Beavers, Luke Beavers and Joshua Beavers. Nieces, nephews, special friends and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jackie Kalevas will be conducted Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Stephens officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Wesley Jones, Steve Sparks, James Chitwood, Derrick Towe, Phil Beavers and Michael Holmes. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Sunday at 1:15pm. Interment will follow the service in the Fain Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
