Mr. Jacky Burnett Hancock, age 60 of Fairmount, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Gordon County on January 5, 1952, son of the late Clemon and Berta Lee Greene Hancock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Hancock and Clayton Hancock.

Mr. Hancock was a veteran, serving his country in the United States Army. He was employed with Vulcan Materials, and was a member of Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alene Cantrell Hancock of the residence: a son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Chanel Hancock of Fairmount; a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and David Warren of Sugar Valley; a step-daughter, Kim Silvers and her husband Jon of Calhoun; five brothers, Curtis Hancock, David Hancock, and Clarence Hancock, all of Fairmount, Gary Hancock and his wife Nancy of Calhoun, and Steve Hancock of Pulaski, TN; and seven sisters, Annie Mae Owens and her husband Ellis of Oakman, Jean Brookshire of Red Bud, Dymple Townsend and her husband Arvil of Fairmount, Sue Goble of Fairmount, Nancy Cox and her husband Colbert of Calhoun, Patsy Patterson of Eton, and Glynese Pierce and her husband Roy of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Tyler Long, Jace Warren, Kayla Silvers, Kate Silvers, Emily Hancock, Austin Cook, and Tyler Cook. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Jacky Burnett Hancock will be held Tuesday, September 18th at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Hershel Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. Active pallbearers will include Reggie Goble, Chad Cochran, Brad Cochran, Zachary Cochran, Chris Stone, and Jason Jaco.

The Hancock family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
