James Arnold Carter

Mr. James Arnold ( Bud) Carter, age 83 of 195 Summit Avenue, Marietta, Georgia, died Thursday morning, May 17, 2007 at Star Crest Health Care Center in Cartersville, Georgia following an extended illness.

Mr. Carter was born on September 15, 1923 in Floyd County, Georgia;, son of the late Fred and Anna Belle Collins Carter. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jeanette Williamson Carter to whom he was married for 48 years; by one sister; Jean Ann Carter and a brother; Fred Carter, Jr. During his lifetime, he retired, serving his country with the United States Air Force from 1944 until 1966. He retired from the Cobb County Board of Education as a Maintenance Supervisor and was a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church.

Mr. Carter is survived by a daughter; Kim Fowler and her husband, Mike of Fairmount, Georgia; son; Dan Carter and his wife Patti of Douglasville, Georgia.; grandchildren; Jennifer Carter;, Steven Carter, Amanda King and her husband Kevin, Emily Ceballos and her husband, Daniel; and great grandchildren; Andrew Carter, Lindsay Wilbanks, and Abbie King.

Funeral services for Mr. James Arnold (Bud) Carter will be conducted Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Wesley Hunt officiating. Singing will be arranged by Cheryl Cardwell. Active pallbearers serving will include Steven Carter, Billy Parker, Kevin King, Daniel Ceballos, Gary Fowler and Nat Lucas. Burial will follow the service at the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens in Rome, Georgia with military honors being conferred by American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post # 5 Honor Guard.
