James Breeding

Mr. James Breeding, age 75 of Calhoun, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at his residence following several years of declining health. He was born in Letcher County, KY on January 13, 1936, son of the late Theodore and Elizabeth Holland Breeding. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Norma Gibson Breeding; a son-in-law, Carl Dotson of Athens, TN; and a brother, Arnold Breeding.

Prior to becoming disabled, Mr. Breeding was a coal miner. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include four sons, Jessie James Breeding and his wife Beatrice, Paschal Breeding and his wife Tahita, Richard Breeding and his wife Margie, all of Calhoun, and Israel Breeding and his wife Renae of Martin, KY; three daughters, Mickey Hill of Adairsville, Elizabeth Millican of Graysville, AL, and April Helton of Calhoun; a step-son, Castle Amburgey and his wife Alma of Pine Top, KY; two step-daughters, Betty Murray Dotson and her husband Benny of Calhoun, and Fayedeen Dotson of Athens, TN; and two sisters, Mae Blair of Letcher, KY, and Bernette Devorak of Chicago, IL. Grandchildren surviving are Tiffany Nicole Breeding, Stormy James Breeding, Cory M. Breeding, and thirty-two others; and thirty-eight great-grandchildren. Other survivors include long-time friends Bill Jackson, Joyce Jones, Kelly Reyes and family, and James and Brenda Anderson.

Funeral services for Mr. James Breeding will be held Friday, June 17th at 1:00pm from the Big Springs Baptist Church, with Rev. Fred McCoy officiating. Mr. Breeding's body will lie in state at the church Friday from 12:00pm until the funeral hour of 1:00pm. Active pallbearers will include Benny Dotson, John Murry, Jeff Bailey, Daniel Rhodes, Scotty Rhodes, Charles Rhodes, Walter Florain, and Roy Chapman.

The family will receive friends at the Breeding residence, 175 Park Drive, Calhoun beginning Wednesday at 5:00pm.
