James Cannon

Mr. James Cannon, 71, of Calhoun, died at Erlanger Medical Center on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, following several months of declining health.

James was born in Bartow County on June 27, 1944; his father was the late Austin Cannon, his mother and step-father were the late Lilly Mae Temple Treadway and Earnest Treadway. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tracy Cannon, in 1990, and by his brother, Robert Cannon; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Grady and Ora Mae Pierce. James retired from the City of Calhoun after nearly thirty years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara Pierce Cannon, of Calhoun; his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Cannon Frain and Doug; his sons, Russell Cannon, Michael Cannon, Stephen Cannon, Brian Cannon, and Gregg Karnes; his grandchildren, Paige, Hope, Brittany, Melissa, Chrissy, Gregory, Kimberly, Christy, and Shannon; several grandchildren.

The Cannon family will receive friends on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Chandler Cemetery. Rev. Crawford Greeson will officiate. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
