James Holland

Mr. James "Humpy" Holland, age 79 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. He was born in Gordon County on March 26, 1930, son of the late Worth and Nancy Greeson Holland. Mr. Holland was veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Victory Fellowship Full Gospel Church, the Veterans of Foreign War Post # 5376, and the American Legion Post # 47.

Mr. Holland was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Hall Holland; two brothers, Robert Holland and Roy Holland, and by a sister, Katherine Yongue.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Lamar "Barney" and Rita Holland of Calhoun; four daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Tommy Fields of Elberton, Teena Holland of Calhoun, Teresa and Michael DeBrock of Calhoun, and Ketrina and Nick Pelfrey of Calhoun; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Zeb Holland of Fenton, Michigan and Jimmy and Betty Holland of Warner Robbins; and a sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Ernest Hall of Calhoun. Six grandchildren, Whitney Fields, Brandy Pelfrey, Aaron Fields, Erica DeBrock, Jamie Miller and Jenny Smith; a special niece, Sheryll Thomason Mitzner; a special nephew, Douglas Hall and a special friend, Alice Derosier also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. James "Humpy" Holland will be conducted Saturday April 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Bro. Jimmie Timms and Bro. Terry Timms officiating. Burial will follow in the Gordon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers serving will include James O. Hall, Marvin Woody, Tom Greeson, Donnie Sexton, Eddie Hilley and Wayne Banks. These gentlemen are asked to be at the funeral home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m.
