James Loyal Knox

Mr. James Loyal Knox, age 69 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at his residence following three months of declining health.

He was born on October 2, 1941 in Gordon County, son of the late James Noyce Knox and Willene Goss Knox. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Anne McCurry Knox, to whom he had been married for 50 years, and a brother, George Lemuel Knox. He was retired from the trucking industry as a mechanic and driver. .

Mr. Knox is survived by daughters, Karen Knox Skinner and her husband David of Snellville, and Sherri Knox and Kortney Dempsey of Canton; a son, James Nathan Knox and his wife Kellie of Ball Ground; a nephew, Duane Knox of Orlando, Florida; nieces, Tier Knox Bishop of Sautee, Georgia, and Darla Knox Corrales of Ormond Beach, Florida; and aunts, Edna "Pete" Warren of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Allene Goss Charles of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Clayton Staub, Rachel Skinner, Nolan Knox, James Skinner, Samuel Stripland and Emma Grace Stripland.

A memorial service for Mr. James Loyal Knox will be conducted Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 7:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Waddell officiating. Music will be arranged by Jan Marthaler. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 6:00pm until 7:00pm, prior to the memorial service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in Mr. Knox's name to At Peace Hospice, 216B New Town Road, Calhoun, 30701.
