James Luther Ledford

Mr. James Luther Ledford, age 72 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Gordon Hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Ledford was born on August 24, 1936 in Murray County, son of the late Luke Ledford and Dessie Chastain Ledford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Kay Ledford, a son, Jay Ledford, a sister, Kathy Ledford, and by brothers, Charles Ledford, Lloyd (Bud) Ledford, Marvin Eugene Ledford and Ronnie Ledford. During his lifetime Mr. Ledford was a maintenance supervisor for apartment complexes, and a member of Evangelistic Outreach Church on Dews Pond Road.

Survivors include a daughter, Heidi Ledford of New Jersey; four sons, Dale Gardner of Pennsylvania, Marvin Ledford of Chatsworth, and Jason Ledford and J.P. Ledford, both of New Jersey; a sister, Linda White and her husband Thomas of Calhoun; three brothers, Jerry Ledford of Chatsworth, Bobby Ledford of Tacoma, Washington and Damien Ledford of Dalton. His special mother, Ruth Ledford, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. James Luther Ledford will be conducted Friday at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Kirby officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Jeff Cameron, Larry Welchel, Billy Fuller, Casey Chastain, Mike Ledford, Damien Ledford, Larry Fuller, Tony Temple and Rusty Hoover. Interment will follow the service in White Cemetery in Villanow, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Thursday during the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
