James Otto Hall

Mr. James Otto (Poag) Hall,age 70 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, May 8, 2009 at his residence. He was born on September 26, 1938 in Murray County, son of the late Maynard Alfred Hall and Mamie Shipman Hall. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Bob George Hall; two sisters, Hazel Ilene Holland, and Robbie Jane Hall; and his grandparents, Bob and Georgia Hall, and George and Laura Shipman.

During his lifetime he was self employed, having owned and operated the Calhoun Cab Company, and was a member of Victory Fellowship Full Gospel Church. Poag enjoyed walking in the park with his friends, and in his daily routine he visited This & That Pawn Shop as well as other Calhoun businesses.

Survivors include two sisters, Helen Greeson and her husband Tom; and Jewel Woody and her husband Marvin, all of Calhoun, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. James Otto (Poag) Hall will be conducted Monday at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Clyde McEntyre, Rev. Terry Timms, and Rev. Jimmie Timms officiating. Active pallbearers serving will include Rufus Wyatt, Tim Langston, Rev. Clyde McEntyre, Emory McEntyre, Michael McEntyre and Tony Erwin. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Monday at 10:15am. Members of Victory Fellowship Full Gospel Church and his many friends will serve as honorary escorts. Interment will follow the service in the Gordon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Victory Fellowship Full Gospel Church in Poag's memory.
