US Navy Retired C.P.O. James R. Langston, age 85 of Milledgeville, GA, formerly of Calhoun, died Saturday, November 17, 2012 in the GA War Veterans Nursing Home in Milledgeville.
Mr. Langston was born in Gordon County, GA on September 13, 1927, son of the late Louis T. and Lula Brown Langston. He was preceded in death three brothers, Don Langston, Chuck Langston and L.T. Langston.
Mr. Langston enlisted in the United States Navy on April 4, 1945 as Apprentice Seaman and retired after 20 years of service on October 31, 1964 as Chief Petty Officer. In November 1964 he began a 20 year enlistment with the US Naval Reserve, retiring as Lieutenant of the Department of Defense Police at the Defense General Supply Center in Richmond, VA in 1985.
Survivors inclide his wife, Era Inez Langston of Calhoun; two step-daughters, Joyce Langston and Linda Silvers;four step-sons, Charles, Bobby, Kyle and Jerry Graham; two sisters, Kay Richard and Charlotte Kausin, both from Ohio; and three brothers, Clarence Langston of Ohio, Hubert Langston of Florida and Bobby Joe Langston of Marietta. A host of nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.
Full military honors will be given Friday November 23rd at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends on Tuesday November 20th at Max Brannon & Sons between the hours of 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
