James Robert Payne

Mr. James Robert Payne, age 57 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. He was born in Gordon County on September 8, 1952, son of the late James Harry and Pearlie Mae Cope Payne. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Payne Goff and Barbara Ann Wyatt.

Before becoming disabled, Mr. Payne worked in the textile industry, and was of the Church of God faith. He was a veteran, serving his country in the United States Army.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Christopher and Dixie Payne of Canton; a daughter, Kristina Payne; two brothers, Randall Payne of Calhoun, and Roy Thomas Payne and his wife Barbara of Plainville; and a sister, Kathy Cole of Calhoun. Five grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. James Robert Payne will be conducted Friday, March 26th at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Hershel Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery with military rites. Active pallbearers will include Randall Payne, Jamie Payne, Keith Payne, Neal Payne, Roy Thomas Payne, Jr., and Durand Payne. Honorary pallbearers are Trenton Payne, Jerome Payne, and Ricky McClure.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 9:00am until the funeral hour of 11:00am.
