James Roy Freeman

Mr. James Roy Freeman, age 82 of Cleveland, TN died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Brookhaven, MS on October 7, 1928, son of the late John Henry Freeman and the late Georgia Ann Allred Freeman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris King Freeman in 2008, a brother, Gordon Freeman, and a sister, Bobbie Neil Smith.

Mr. Freeman was a boilermaker during his lifetime, working with TVA and Combustion Engineering. He was of the Church of God of Prophecy faith, and served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He loved the outdoors and visiting with family and friends, and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include five sons, Michael Freeman and his wife Glenda of Adairsville, Randy Freeman and his wife Liz of Poplarville, MS, Henry Freeman and his wife Kim of Cartersville, Tim Freeman and Andrea Loudermilk of Chatsworth, and Thomas Freeman of Cleveland, TN; a daughter, Janice Freeman of Cleveland, TN; and a brother, Billy W. Freeman of Natchez, MS. Grandchildren surviving are Mike Freeman, Jr., Renee Freeman, Shelby Freeman, Henry Freeman, Jr., Kristy Webb, Samantha Lipscomb, Scott Freeman, Matt Freeman, Brandi Davenport, and Austin Davenport. Sixteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. James Roy Freeman will be held Wednesday, May 18th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Eulogies will be spoken by family members, and interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Mike Freeman, Henry Freeman, Randy Freeman, Tim Freeman, Janice Freeman, and Richard Ensley. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
