James V. Fain

Rev. James VanBuren Fain, age 71, of 612 Old Fairmount Highway, Calhoun, went to sleep in Jesus' arms on August 10, 2006, at his residence surrounded by family and friends. He was born June 2, 1935 in Gordon County, the son of the late Conway and Odel Fain. He was the pastor of The Church of Jesus Christ for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Savanna Towe of Calhoun; two sisters, Louise Silvers of Calhoun, and Irene Miller of Illinois, and one brother, William Fain of Michigan.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ora Mae Silvers Fain; one son, Steve Fain; four daughters and son-in-laws; Phyllis and Randy Towe, Donna and Mike Quarles, Cindy and Terry Van Dyke, and Holly and Andy Worley. Two sisters; Vivian Lovingood of Calhoun, and Joann Coggins of Dalton. Five brothers; Ronald Fain, Thomas "Junior" Fain, Jack Fain, Frankie Fain, and Robert Fain, all of Calhoun. Ten grandchildren; Heather Maddox, Brandon Towe, Melissa and Hunter Quarles, Erica Miller, Josh, Terrylee and Tiffany Van Dyke, Kaylee and Chase Worley, all of Calhoun. Eight great grandchildren; Dakota and Mason Maddox, Branson and Brooklyn Towe, Michaella Wells, Calista and David Miller, all of Calhoun. The family would also like to make an honorable mention of two very dear friends to Mr. Fain, Trammel Burchett and Wayne Towe.

Funeral services for James Fain will be conducted at the Church of Jesus Christ on Damascus Road on Sunday, August 13, 2006, at 2:00pm., with burial to follow at the Haven of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery. Brother Jerry Stephens and other Ministers from the church will officiate. Bro. Hershel Pierce will conduct the graveside rites. Music will be arranged by Freddie Craig. Active pallbearers will include Brian Young, Henry Cox, Kevin Silvers, Barry Parker, Stacey James, and Pat McCarthy. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the City of Calhoun Fire Department.The family will begin receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday after 5:00pm.

Family owned and operated Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun is in charge of conducting the funeral services for Rev. James Fain of Calhoun.
