Mr. James William (Jip) Cox, age 70 of Rydal, GA passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Calhoun Health Care following several years of declining health. He was born in Bartow County on April 8, 1942, son of the late Daniel Bevy Cox and the late Jesse Paralee Kimble Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James A. Cox; a very special nephew, Jimmy David Cox; brothers, Tom Cox, Floyd Cox, Robert Cox, Horace Cox, and Homer Cox; and a sister, Leaner Edwards.

James loved his family very much. He doted on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved gospel music and he surely loved God.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Sherry Dobbins Cox; a son, Michael Cox and his wife Mary of Rydal; two daughters, Tammy Burnett of White, and Pamela Moore and her husband Robert of Rydal; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Barbara Cox, and Charles and Charlotte Cox; and two sisters, Mary Frances Neal, and Linda Jane Lowe, all of Cartersville. Other survivors are grandchildren, Brandy and Robert Burnett, Amanda and Randy Burnett, Joan, Jenny, and Jimmy Moore, Michael, Matthew, and Andrew Cox, Haley Rose Wesley, and Holden Hawkins; great-grandchildren, Brady Burnett and Zachary Burnett; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. James William (Jip) Cox will be held Sunday, April 7th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Daniel Cox and Rev. Michael Dobbins officiating. Interment will follow in Towe's Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers include Michael Cox, Matthew Cox, Robert Burnett, Randy Burnett, Josh Cox, and Bill Cox. Honorary pallbearers are Ranse Diddle and Shane Dover.

The Cox family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday, April 6th after 5:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the James Cox Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1027, Calhoun, GA 30703.
