James William Oliver

July 16, 1943 — February 15, 2015

Mr. James William Oliver, 71 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at his home following several weeks of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on July 16, 1943, son of the late William Thomas Oliver and the late Ethel Mae Langley Oliver.

Mr. Oliver loved the outdoors and hunting, his church and church events, and his trike motorcycle. He was a member of Sugar Valley Church of God.

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Dora Ann Leonard Oliver; three daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Wayne Hanson of Winder, Brenda and Randy Allegood of Calhoun, and Kelly and Brian Rexroad of Calhoun; a brother and sister-in-law, Jessie and Evelyn Oliver of Centre, AL; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and John Earwood of Marietta. Grandchildren surviving are Becky and William Colley, Laura and Rodney Bennett, Autumn and Travis Mackey, Colby Mathis, and Dylan, Shane, and Sky Rexroad; and great-grandchildren, Alex Colley, and Lilly, Justin, and Riley Mackey. Several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and church family also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. James William Oliver will be held Tuesday, February 17th at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Dwaine Shadix officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Valley Church of God Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Wayne Hanson, Randy Allegood, Brian Rexroad, Wayne Leonard, Travis Mackey, and Gary Scott.

The Oliver family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday after 4:00 PM.
