Obituary

Mrs. Nora Jane Bates Dyer, 81, of the Farmville Community, died Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at her residence following eight months of declining health.
Jane was born in Coushatta, LA on September 6, 1938, daughter of the late Walter and Pauline Rigsby Bates. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ted G. Dyer, and by two brothers; Glynn and R. J. Bates.
Jane was a dedicated Christian woman who truly loved and trusted her Lord. She was dedicated and faithful to her church, Trinity Baptist, where she enjoyed worshipping the Lord. She was a loving and dedicated wife; Janes life demonstrated the love she had for her family. Along with her husband, she gave God all the glory for any success they achieved. She was an active part of Jacks career as the Gordon County Extension Agent; she worked closely with the youth programs, including 4-H. She supported and contributed to our community in many ways; Jane helped to organize and served as the first president of the Calhoun Red Carpet Cattlewomens Association.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Dyer to whom she was married for 62 years, son; Jeff (Paula) Dyer, daughter-in-law; Carla Dyer, grandchildren; Jeremy (Sarah) Dyer, Tess Dyer, Kyle Odom, Brett Dyer and friend, Gabby Jones, one great-grandchild; Jace Godwin, one sister; Jean (Bill) Lowery.
A service to celebrate the life of Nora Jane Bates Dyer will be held on Sunday, August 2nd at 4:00 PM from Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Poovey officiating. Jody Darby will be in charge of the music. Interment will follow in Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery in Blairsville, GA., Monday, August 3rd at 11:00 AM with Rev. Eddie Brannon conducting the graveside service. Pallbearers serving will include; Jeremy Dyer, Brett Dyer, David Coker, Daniel Jones, Joe Darby, and Max Mashburn. Honorary pallbearers serving will include members of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class of Trinity Baptist Church.
The Dyer family will receive friends on Saturday, August 1st at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ted G. Dyer Memorial Fund, 273 Erwin Rd. S.E., Calhoun, GA., 30701, in Jane's memory. The body will be placed in state at the church at 3:00 PM Sunday.
The family would like to give a special thanks to; caregivers, Darlene Jackson and India Henderson, Homespun Hospice, her hospice nurse, Jerri McDougle, and Janes very special friend, Faye Mashburn.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the Dyer family.
