Janie Fisher Boswell

Mrs. Janie Fisher Boswell, age 93 of Calhoun, passed away Monday September 14, 2009 at her residence. She was born in Whitfield County on January 6, 1916, daughter of the late Claud and Birdie Owens Fisher. She was a charter member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Mrs. Boswell was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Boswell; a son, Claud Boswell; a daughter, Linda Crumley; four brothers, Carl, Virgil, James, and M.C. Fisher; a sister, Elizabeth Berrong; and a great-great grandson, Bryson Etheredge.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Edward Boswell and his wife Brenda of Calhoun; three daughters and a son-in-law, Dollie Tatum and her husband Gordon, Inez Clark, and Betty Greeson, all of Calhoun; and a brother, Bernard Fisher and his wife Geneva of Whitfield County. Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Janie Fisher Boswell will be conducted on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. from the Philadelphia Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim McCulley and Rev. Jack Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Oothcalooga Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Morris Etheredge, Jr., Kent Etheredge, Stephen Clark, John Boswell, Russell Boswell, Jerry DeFoor,Jr., Matthew DeFoor, Ricky Crook and Buddy Overby. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wisdom Sunday School Class of Philadelphia Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
