Mrs. Janie L. Goss, age 89 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on May 14, 1918, daughter of the late Jesse and Shebie Frix Franklin. Mrs. Goss was a homemaker during her lifetime, and enjoyed cooking and going to church. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rev. Ralph Goss; brothers, John Franklin and Jess Franklin; sisters, Mary Hensley and Rachel Boswell; and a grandson, James Goss, Jr.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Ann Goss of Calhoun; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Addis of Rocky Face; grandchildren, Jacqueline Goss, Josh Goss, Mitchell Goss, Kimberly Williamson, Lee Parm, Jeff Parm, Angela Offutt, Nichole Johnson, and Charlie Addis; and a special niece, Joyce Hall. Fifteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and other nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Janie L. Goss will be conducted Saturday, March 8 at 11:00am from the Union Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Michael Clark, Rev. Donal Collum, and Rev. David Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Josh Goss, Jeff Parm, Lee Parm, Mickey Goss, Charlie Addis, and Derrick Goss. Honorary pallbearers will include the deacons of Union Grove Baptist Church, and they are asked to meet at the church Saturday at 10:45am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning Thursday at 7:00pm.
