Jason Newberry

Mr. Jason Emory Newberry, age 95 of Sugar Valley, GA died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Oak View Health Care Center in Summerville.

Mr. Newberry was born on July 5, 1917 in Whitfield County, son of the late Frank Emory Newberry and Emma Josephine Jones Newberry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Newberry, and a granddaughter, Beverly Newberry.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of the Sugar Valley Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie May Newberry, to whom he was married for 73 years; a son, Ray Newberry of Summerville; a sister-in-law, Jewell Powell of Rome; two brothers, James Slaughter of Resaca, and Ollie Slaughter and his wife Georgia Mae of Sugar Valley; nine grandchildren, Freddie Newberry, Teresa Headrick, Timothy Newberry, Betty Collins, Betty Sue Newberry, Glenda Faye Newberry, Daphene Hand and her husband David, Greg Newberry and Randy Newberry; twelve great- grandchildren, Kim Coats, Stacie Weldon, Alex Newberry, Chaz Newberry, Trit Newberry, Travis Newberry, Amber Bost, Dustin Boyd, Carrie Collins, Crystal Collins, Kyrstin Headrick and Dakota Headrick; and five great-great grandchildren, Chelcy Davis, Justin Weldon, Emily Bost, Leah Coats and Kirsten Coats.

Funeral services for Mr. Jason Emory Newberry will be conducted Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Dwaine Shadix officiating. Pallbearers serving are Freddie Newberry, Randy Newberry, David Hand, Greg Newberry, Alex Newberry and Brian Bost. Interment will follow the service in the Sugar Valley Church of God Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday during the hours of 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 2:00 pm.
