Jeanette Carney

June 3, 1929 — April 5, 2011

Mrs. Jeanette Carney, age 81 of Adairsville, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at her residence following a year of declining health. She was born in Bartow County on June 3, 1929, daughter of the late Guy and Kitty Smith Pickard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James William Carney in 1992; two brothers, Carl Pickard and Bill Pickard; and eight sisters, Della Mae Register, Hazel Price, Maxine Blair, Katie Johnston, Marie Ridenhour, Vada Blalock, Mary Smith, and Nettie Pickard.

Mrs. Carney was retired from Mannington Mills, and was of the Church of God faith.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Elsie Carney of Adairsville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Ron Barton of Memphis, TN, and Joyce and Troy Long of Cleveland, TN; a brother, Dale Pickard of Chatsworth; and a sister, Shirley Billingsley of Rome. Grandchildren surviving are Denise Carney Byars, Adair Barton, Carmen Lay Irons, Dana Carney Marnick, and Marty Barton; and great-grandchildren, Kayla Styuvenber, April Styuvenber, Erica Irons, Zachery Barton, Rachel Barton, Tristan Barton, Brooke Barton, Harley Barton, Isaiah Barton, McKenna Barton, Josh Marnick, and Luke Marnick. Great-great grandchildren surviving are Paris Williams and Drayden Williams.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jeanette Carney will be conducted Friday, April 8th at 2:00pm from the Erwin Hill Church of God, with Dr. James Shope, Rev. Ron Carver, and Rev. Gary Hibberts officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers are Marty Barton, Adair Barton, Marty Irons, Scott Byars, Todd Marnick, and Marvin Blalock. Honorary escort will be employees and former employees of Mannington Mills tufting department.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday from 3:00pm until 8:00pm.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heyman HospiceCare at Floyd for their special care of Mrs. Carney.
