Jerry Doyle Bennett

Mr. Jerry Doyle Bennett, age 69 of Adairsville, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Heartland Hospice Center following several months of declining health.

Mr. Bennett was born on January 3, 1940 in Gordon County, son of the late Charles Roy Bennett and Alma Moore Bennett. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Mell, Pat, J.M, Herman, Fred, Billy and Robert Bennett. During his lifetime he was employed in the textile industry in supervision and was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Sue Shepherd Bennett, to whom he married on August 27, 1960; four sons, Dwayne Bennett and his wife Laura, Jeff Bennett, Brian Bennett and his wife Cammy, and Brent Bennett, all of Adairsville; seven grandchildren, Brandi Purkey and her husband Ira, Dusty Causby, Drew Grant, Adam Bennett, Ashley Bennett, Blake Bennett and Morgan Bennett; three great grandchildren, Avery and Luke Purkey and Elle Causby; two sisters, Jean McClure of Calhoun, and Sue Amos and her husband Gary of Adairsville; and two brothers, Wayne Bennett, and Trammell Bennett and his wife Carol, all of Calhoun. Nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Doyle Bennett will be conducted Monday at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Rev. Terrell Colston officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Fain Cemetery with Dr. John Allen conducting the graveside rites. Music will be arranged by Gary Amos. Active pallbearers serving will include, Damon McClure, Chad Floyd, Ryan Amos, and Mike Bennett. Honorary pallbearers selected to serve are Jerry Jackson, Randall Jackson, Willard Childers, Ray Landers, Donald Bearden, Jerry McClure, and Ronnie Hudson. The family will begin receiving friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday after 1:00pm.
