Jerry Jerome Helms

Mr. Jerry Helms, age 51 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Floyd Medical Center. He was born in Orlando, Florida on January 17, 1958, son of the late Jimmy and Ann Stephens Helms. Jerry was a devoted Dad, husband, and Papa. He was self-employed in the carpet industry, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Carol Smith Helms; two daughters, Kandice Johnson and Kristie McBee, both of Calhoun; two brothers, David Cornette and his wife Bonnie of Ashland, Alabama, and Danny Helms of Calhoun; three sisters, Sandra Matthews of Odessa, Texas, Pat Lee of Calhoun, and Diane West and her husband Randy of Rome; and six grandchildren, Katelynn Johnson, Konner Johnson, Jacey Johnson, Gauge McBee, Gatling McBee, and Gavin Hubbard. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and an aunt and uncle also survive. Other survivors include close friends Jimmy and Rosie Watson of Tilton, Illinois, and Connie, Jerry, and Amanda Hudson of Calhoun, and a very special grandmother, Margie Hughes.

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Helms will be conducted Thursday, January 14th at 3:00pm from the Heritage Baptist Church, with Rev. Brent Davis and Rev. David Cornette officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will include Adam Duvall, Jeremy Dutton, Jacob Hyder, Kenny Robbins, T.J. Robbins, Matt Robbins, Danny West, and T.J. West.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. Mr. Helms will lie in state and the family will receive friends at the Heritage Baptist Church on Thursday, from 11:00am until the funeral hour of 3:00pm.
