Jerry Nix Johnson

Jerry Johnson, 72, of the Fairmount community, died at his home on Thursday, May 9, 2013.

Jerry was born in Gordon County on November 12, 1940; he was the son of the late Leon and Louise Nix Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Brannon Johnson, and by his step-son, Ricky Childers. Jerry retired from Harbison-Walker. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Jerry is survived by his sisters and brother, Juanita Wilson, Margaret (Wayne) Bohannon, and Michael (Shirley) Johnson; his step-sons, Gary Childers, Donnie Childers, Travis Childers, and Chris Childers; fourteen grandchildren; a special great-grandson, Luke Campbell; nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 13 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Sonoraville Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow the visitation on Monday at 2:00 PM at Sonoraville Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Rev. Steve Skates officiating. Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Timmy Childers, Josh Childers, Jason Childers, Thomas Phillips, and Robert Paris.
