Mr. Jerry Ray Holt, Sr., age 65 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, October 3, 2008 at his residence. He was born on September 1, 1943 in Gordon County, son of the late Raymond Holt and Mary Alice Shirley Holt. Mr. Holt was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Cuban Conflict. He was a member of Oothcalooga Lodge # 154 F & AM of Calhoun, and the Calhoun American Legion Post. While employed with the OMC Corporation of Calhoun, he was a Quality Control Engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Ardean Helms; a daughter, Amanda Mulkey of Calhoun; four sons, Jay Holt and his wife Mitzi of Calhoun, David Holt and his wife Candy of Calhoun, James Holt and his wife Bethany of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Michael Holt of Calhoun; a brother, Ronnie Holt of Haleyville, Alabama; and six grandchildren, Megan Hales, Danielle Holt, Wayne Holt, Kaylan Broome, Abigaile Broome and Blake Broome. Cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Ray Holt, Sr. will be conducted Monday at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Garry Tate officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Monday morning from 9:00am until the funeral service hour of 11:00am.
