Jerry Wayne Davis

Rev. Jerry Wayne Davis, age 56 of Resaca, passed away Monday, October 11, 2010 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Gordon County on May 4, 1954, son of the late William Clyde and Clara Christine Smith Davis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Davis and Lamar Davis, and a sister, Betty Davis.

Rev. Davis was employed by Bentley Dye as a Plant Manager, and was the assistant pastor of the Evangelistic Outreach Ministry.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Faye Herron Davis; three sons, Jeffery Davis and his wife Stacey, Brian Davis and his wife Wendy, and Preston Davis, all of Calhoun; three step-sons, James Taylor and his wife Denise of Dalton, Jeremy Taylor and his wife Sherry of Chatsworth, and Jason Taylor of Kingston, Tennessee; three brothers, Ray Davis and his wife Carol, L.C. Davis and his wife Odessa, and Junior Davis and his wife Thelma, all of Calhoun; and four sisters, Nina Jackson and her husband Hugh of Calhoun, Faye Addy and her husband J.D. of Fairmount, Norma Stone of Ranger, and Joyce Kirby and her husband Ricky of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Owen Davis, Tristan Blackmon, Breeanna Blackmon, Dakota Hight, Charlie Taylor, Toby Taylor, Benjamin Taylor, Cody Taylor, Harley Taylor, Shay Davis, Haley Davis, and Shanna Taylor. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Rev. Jerry Wayne Davis will be conducted Wednesday, October 13th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Lamar Long and Rev. Dennis Childers officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will include Donald O'Neal, Jackson Davis, Chris Wable, Greg Davis, Elbert Jackson, Michael Stone, and Darrell Grizzle. These gentlemen are requested to assemble at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:15pm. Honorary pallbearers are Josh Davis, Shane Davis, Ronnie Dodd, Billy Fuller, Joe Maddox, Ricky Thurman, and Anthony Davis.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday after 4:00pm.
