Jessica Lumpkin

Jessica Lucille Lumpkin, age 23 of Calhoun, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Emory University Hospital. She was born in Gordon County on September 7, 1988, daughter of Don and Wanda Garner Lumpkin, and was preceded in death by grandparents, Sam and Minnie Garner; a nephew, Skyler Evans, and an aunt and uncle, Harold and Georgie Anderson.

Jessica attended Belwood Elementary, Sonoraville Middle School, and was a 2007 graduate of Gordon Central High School. She graduated in May 2012 from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor's degree, and was a member of the track team. Her passion in life was her work for God and children worldwide. She loved her family and was an avid sports fan, her favorite team being the Tennessee Vols. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.

Jessica is survived by her devoted parents, Don and Wanda Lumpkin; a brother, Charlie Lumpkin; and a sister, Bran Lumpkin, all of Calhoun; a special nephew, Scott Lumpkin; grandparents, Donald and Jimmie Lumpkin; and aunts and uncles, Rick and Lori Lumpkin, Tony and Linda Agosta, Jim and Mary Bryant, and Sam and Mary Garner. Several great-aunts, cousins, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Jessica Lucille Lumpkin will be held Sunday, September 9th at 4:00pm from the Antioch Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Hibberts, Rev. Randy Muse, and Rev. Benny Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Matt Key, Charlie Lumpkin, Josh Anderson, Rick Heath, Randy Gordon, and Kevin West. Honorary pallbearers are Amber Nasco, Leigha West, Paige Holder, Julie Stone, April Hobby, and Kelli Rogers.

Jessica's body will lie in state at Antioch Baptist Church Sunday from 3:00pm until the funeral hour of 4:00pm.

The Lumpkin family will receive friends at the Antioch Baptist Church Christian Life Center Saturday from 4:00pm until 9:00pm.

The family has set up a fund at Georgia Bank and Trust for donations in memory of Jessica.
