Jessie Edwards Reeves

Mrs. Jessie "Peggy" Edwards Reeves, age 90 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Gordon Health Care Center following an extended illness.

She was born on April 14, 1919 in Gordon County, daughter of the late John and Cora Robinson Galloway. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Silas Edwards, and second husband, Jimmy Reeves; a daughter, Carolyn Faye Edwards; three sisters, Beulah Pharr, Liza Raines, and Bertie Smith; and two brothers, Jack Galloway and William "Dink" Galloway. She had spent the greater part of her life in Gordon County where she was a retired textile worker, and was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Debbie and Phil Huckaby of Calhoun, Gene and Margie Edwards of Calhoun, and Betty and Walter Bales of Panama City Beach, Florida; and a stepdaughter, Audrey Roberts of Villa Rica, Georgia. Six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie "Peggy" Edwards Reeves will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Calvin Anderson officiating. Music will be arranged by Jeff Rogers. Interment will follow in the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Walter Hare conducting the committal service. Pallbearers serving will include Dillon Burchett, Gary Clark, Jeff Clark, Sam Huckaby, Rodney Biddey, Fred Williams, Hayden Edwards and Jeremy Roberts. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
