Jessie James Sewell

Mr. Jessie James Sewell, 84 of Calhoun, died Sunday, September 27, 2015 at his residence. He was born in DeKalb County, AL on August 22, 1931, son of the late James Jackson Sewell and Sara M. Crump Sewell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Virginia Fuller Sewell; his brothers, Leonard Sewell, Dennis G. Sewell, Denver D. Sewell, C.L. Sewell, George W. Sewell, Otis W. Sewell, and Carlton Sewell; sisters, Susan M. Sewell and Janie Sewell ; and grandchildren, Charles W. Childers and Chris Childers.

Mr. Sewell served in the United States Army. He worked for the City of Calhoun Water Department and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his daughters and a son, Arlene Bowers and her husband Lloyd, Donna King and her husband David, Judy Dobson and her husband Lewis, Karen Fair and her husband Rocky, Gary Reid Sewell, and Sherrie Childers and her husband Charles; grandchildren, Christa and Brian Ware, Marcus Wallis, Monica Bowers, Jeramy Bowers, Kenneth Bowers, Domekia and Jeremy Gaines, Bryan and Ashley Dobson, Brittany Dobson, Steven and Amber Sewell, Christopher Sewell, Brandon and Shelby Sewell, Tyler Sewell, Drew Sewell, Kimberly Flowers, Tonnie Childers, Chad and Summer Childers; 20 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Services to honor the life of Mr. Jessie James Sewell will be held Wednesday, September 30th at 10:30 am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Lloyd Bowers and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow at West Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Bryan Dobson, Steven Sewell, Brandon Sewell, Chad Childers, Brian Ware, Jonah Gaines, Avery Gaines, Kale Gaines, and Jeremy Gaines.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 29th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
